The Next Best Thing (Hqn) Overview
Lucy Lang isn't looking for fireworks.
She's looking for a nice, decent man. Someone who'll mow the lawn, flip chicken on the barbecue, teach their future children to play soccer. But most important: someone who won't inspire the slightest stirring in her heart…or anywhere else. A young widow, Lucy can't risk that kind of loss again. But sharing her life with a cat named Fat Mikey and the Black Widows at the family bakery isn't enough either. So it's goodbye to Ethan, her hot but entirely inappropriate "friend with privileges" and hello to a man she can marry.
Too bad Ethan Mirabelli isn't going anywhere. As far as he's concerned, what she needs might be right under her nose. But can he convince her that the next best thing can really be forever?
Customer Reviews
Another winner Kristin Higgins! I can not say which is my favorite book from her, but I'm not sure if I have a favorite from her b / c they are all so different from me. She keeps everyone seems to have delusions of personality even Goofy, but in different ways. I love his books and usually stay up all night to finish it. Was no different with The Next Best Thing. I loved all the characters in this book, also Doral Anne. Everyone has a crazy, zanie, dysfunctional time. Lucy could be alittle irritating at times with his complete and total blindness when it leads to fall from her relationship with Ethan and phobic anxiety in true love again, but I eventually forgave her and like I said, that seems to be a normal woman personality Kristin, and I learned to love each other, and all the defects. The only thing I can say is that I grew Ethan, Lucy and her .... light for his loyalty abuse we say? Made him seem a bit 'as a doormatTimes. I also loved despite that. The whole story was so funny and entertaining and kept me browse wants to see exactly how it ended. Oh, and I like that it is a beautiful as an epilogue that is missing in KH earlier novels were for the most part. I like my happy ending wrapped up nice and clean with a bow.
