The Sociopath Next Door: The Ruthless Versus the Rest of Us Overview
We are accustomed to think of sociopaths as violent criminals, but in The Sociopath Next Door, Harvard psychologist Martha Stout reveals that a shocking 4 percent of ordinary people—one in twenty-five—has an often undetected mental disorder, the chief symptom of which is that that person possesses no conscience. He or she has no ability whatsoever to feel shame, guilt, or remorse. One in twenty-five everyday Americans, therefore, is secretly a sociopath. They could be your colleague, your neighbor, even family. And they can do literally anything at all and feel absolutely no guilt.

It appears that about 4% of us are sociopaths. One of 25 people - and then probably somebody has to know that we have - no conscience and can, without letting their internal behavior, nothing to do to be independent from their end - to rule the world, the developing gain of his career, a good parking space. In his book, often fascinating Sociopath Next Door, Martha Stout, a clinical psychologist, describes sociopathy and conscience, has come, including composite sketches of sociopaths, theyeverything in their careers.
The book begins with an interesting insight into decisions made by a young lawyer of losing an important business meeting to get home and feed his dog. Stout packs its decision, taking into account the various factors that may have impacted: consciousness is only a possibility. The author also discusses the experiments of Stanley Milgram at Yale University, the factors that may reduce temporarily the consciousness of a normal person, and the causes of sociopathy. Less interesting for me, at leastwere the conversations the author of the history and theories of religious conscience.
Stout book was an eye opening for me to read. He began to wonder - as I'm sure most readers are - if I come on every sociopath in my life, and I think we will have a lasting impact on my way to judge the behavior of men. Participating in a violent relationship or who has been a friend for a bit 'unusual dangerous would do well to read fascinatedStout's book to see if we recognize that describes the behavior.
